What is the difference between an agent and an insurance broker?
The general agent and broker are insurance intermediaries.
The first represents an insurance company in a given territory, while the second is independent.
Concerning the agent, the commission is expressed as a percentage of the tax-free premium and is variable depending on the risks. For exposures subject to a compulsory fee, the commission is also regulated. the insurance company which mandated the agent has a right to control this later. The agent only distributes to its client contracts of the company which was authorized.
Concerning the broker, the commission is expressed as a percentage of the tax-free premium and is variable depending on the risks. For exposures subject to a compulsory fee, the commission is also regulated.
The broker is totally independent. Business is placed at the level of the company of the broker's choice or possibly that of the broker's client.

How is an insurance intermediary paid?
By a commission expressed as a percentage amount of the tax-free premium. The commission, which varies according to the risks, is set by insurers in line with established practice that has lasted since the liberalization of fees.

What do I do to get insured?
Use our quote request tool, and we will focus on the person who will address your needs. You will be asked to provide some information about you, so we can give you an offer. If this later holds your attention, we will confirm coverage with the insurer, and we will give you an insurance contract to be signed and then you will have to pay the insurance premium.

When must the premiums be payed?
At the effective date of the policy, and every year afterwards at the date of the renewal. This payment can be made by any means, whether in cash, cheque, bank transfer or direct debit.
The non-payment of premiums in compliance with the deadlines set in the contract allows the insurer to implement Article 21 of the Insurance Code which insures the provisions of the notice which may be followed by a suspension and termination of the contract.

In the event of a disaster what procedures should be followed?
First, we must know that there is a delay for reporting losses ranging from 48 hours for thefts to 5 days for other risks. You must therefore inform us as soon as possible by writing to us about an event likely to bring in the insurance contract. Your statement should be as complete as possible, especially with regard to the circumstances of the disaster, the losses and the damage that occured.
An expert will be appointed to take a look at the facts and carry out a damage assessment.
The list of documents generally required for the settlement of each type of claim is detailed in the section 'List of claims'. However, it can be possible that other documents or evidence may be requested.

Do you have an advice to give me for creating my claim?

In addition to the points raised above and beyond specific advice to give to your personal case, there is one on which should be stressed: it is the justification for your loss. A major principle is that insurance cannot be a source of personal fortune. For this reason, we can not overemphasize advising you to keep track with a justifyer of the purchase of your stolen belongings, and will serve as a basis for the regulation proposed by the insurer. If you have family property (valued furniture, jewelry and other rare and precious objects) for which it is not easy to justify the value, we recommend that you evaluate them. By experience, we know that a case of evidence for values that are stolen or destroyed, facilitates the processing of cases and avoids many misunderstandings.
